One very cool design element that I have started to see more frequently is the use of brick veneer on interior walls. Brick veneer is a thin brick face from 3/8” to 1” thick. Brick veneer gives a wall the appearance of a solid brick wall. The brick veneer can give a room the character that only comes with older buildings such as a cool loft apartment in an old industrial building. Typically brick veneer is used on interior walls within kitchens, wine rooms, basements, bar areas, or game rooms. Brick backsplashes in kitchens are also becoming very popular.

Tray ceilings can be a nice addition to many rooms within your house. Typically, I have seen them in dining rooms, living areas, and master bedrooms. There are two types of tray ceilings, stepped and sloped. A stepped tray ceiling has more of a stair step appearance, while a sloped tray ceiling has more of an angled appearance. Both types of tray ceilings are nice. Tray ceilings increase the height of the ceiling in a decorative way, and they can make a room feel much larger. Nice as they are, there are things that you can do to enhance the appearance of the tray ceiling even further.
